Your captures stay on your device unless you turn on iCloud backup. Reflections are opt-in. This page explains the controls in the app and the separate choices on this website.
Where your data lives
Your thought library stays on your device. Optional iCloud backup, off by default, keeps a copy in your own iCloud that absorvia cannot read. No absorvia account is required. AI reflections are opt-in. With your permission, relevant writing and context are sent to our backend and, when needed, to OpenAI. A request can include excerpts from more than one capture. This text is not used to train OpenAI's models. Switch AI Reflections off in Settings to stop future AI requests. Temporary service records are explained in the privacy policy.
Service access, subscription, analytics and diagnostic records can use pseudonymous identifiers. This means records can be linked to an installation or purchase even without your name. Read the Privacy Policy for providers and retention.
AI reflections: opt in, opt out
Open Settings → INTELLIGENCE → AI Reflections to change your choice. Switching it off stops future AI requests. It cannot recall requests already received by a provider or immediately erase earlier cached responses.
Deleting your data
Use Settings → DATA → Delete All Data to remove the local library. Where recording recovery is supported, this also removes recovery recordings. It also removes the iCloud backup copy; if iCloud cannot be reached at that moment, the app removes it the next time it can. Export anything you want to keep first.
Local deletion does not cancel a subscription or immediately delete service records. Copies you saved to Photos, files, device backups or another app remain under those services and your settings. See deletion instructions and retained data.
iCloud backup
iCloud backup is off until you turn it on in Settings. When on, a copy of your thoughts, with their tasks and saved reflections, and supported settings is written to absorvia’s private folder in your own iCloud. We cannot read it and it is not sent to our server. Audio is not backed up. Turning backup off stops new copies and lets you delete the iCloud copy.
